We really enjoyed our stay at Casa da capelinha. The hotel is situated on the north coast of Madeira in a very peaceful and beautiful environment. I also liked the fact that we were far away from Madeira's mass tourism places such as Funchal and much of the southern coast. The hotel and its swimming pool are just a nice place to relax.
I would definitely recommend that you rent a car because it takes no less than 3 hours by bus to get to Ponta Delgada from Funchal! By car, it only takes 45 minutes. This is the price you have to pay if you don't want to look like this in the evening (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dish_of_crawdads.jpg) when you'll be sitting in a restaurant surrounded by smiling and happy German and British couples in their 50's ;-)

Good and quiet location. Nice rooms. Evening meals à la carte (try the local fish). Friendly staff. Nice uphill trail starting 50m down the street.
No breakfast service. Sofa bed (in the living room) smelled stale.

Very friendly welcome. Spacious and well equipped apartment/room. Very clean and neat. Splendid view over the roofs onto the blue sea and the nearby green mountains/high hills. Friendly and well speaking English owners. This place is like paradise on earth. Highly recommended to stay a couple of days or even a whole week.
Everything was fine. We will be back as soon as possible.

Very friendly and nice. Apartment is really very big and offers all what is required. We enjoyed very much
Smell of dampness from kithenette. Once cockroach detected. Probably issues of specific apartment. Car is a must.

The pool was stunning and the view was breathtaking. The staff was kind and helpful with our requests. The location was perfect as it was very close to two highly rated restaurants, as well as to a grocery store in case we wanted to cook in the kitchenette of our room.
The room had a peculiar oldish smell and the bed was not as comfortable as we hoped for our romantic escape. the electricity sockets looked dirty, which made us doubt the overall cleanliness of the room.

The hotel staff was superbly friendly and amazingly nice, not annoying. We asked for an extremely spacious room with stunning view, toaster, for example and got one...

We arrived quite late but the staff was waiting for us. The village is much nicer than the guidebooks said and is a great base for visiting the North Coast of the island. The rooms were spotless and spacious, and the overall feel of the place was most comfortable even with young children. A great home away from home!

I had a fabulous time at this hotel with my family. The apartment was clean and spacious, with a lovely view of the Atlantic Ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the daily maid service was appreciated. The location on the quieter north coast was perfect for a peaceful and relaxing stay. With easy access to the whole island, it was convenient to explore other parts of Madeira. And let's not forget the fantastic weather!
All was just perfect.
